Below are some organisations that are worth engaging with for many aspects of a writing career; from contract vetting and legal advice, to literary events and story development.

It’s a solitary life as a writer, which for some is one of the perks, but knowing where to turn to for that extra support when times are tough is vital. The Writers’ Guild of Great Britain

wggb logoThe Writers’ Guild of Great Britain (WGGB) is a trade union representing professional writers in TV, film, theatre, radio, books, poetry, animation and videogames. Members also include emerging and aspiring writers. Jamie currently sits on the committee for the Guild’s London & SE region and has been a full member since 2010. The Guild are the only TUC-affiliated trade union for writers of all crafts in the UK.

The Society of Authors

SOA logoThe Society of Authors has been serving the interests of professional writers for more than a century. Today it has more than 9,000 Members and Associates writing in all areas of the profession (from novelists to doctors, textbook writers to ghost writers, broadcasters to academics, illustrators to translators).
